Products I Use & Love

DashGo Rapid Egg Cooker
DashGo Rapid Egg Cooker
I LOVE this product! I bought it because it was on clearance, and I have been looking for more to give as gifts. It steams eggs to the done-ness you like and is almost fool proof with a few caviats...

  • You will have to test it for the done-ness you expect. My wife likes hers VERY firm. I found that if I leave the lid on for 2 minutes AFTER it stops, it will cook to perfection. I am at 4400+ feet so it needs some time. I also know that the medium setting is great for soft-cooked.
  • Use vinegar to clean following EACH use. It makes it much easier to clean
  • It cooks up to 7 eggs at a time (I discovered this by trying to place an egg in the center slot and it works great)!
  • DON'T USE JUMBO or EXTRA LARGE eggs! They don't fit properly!
Starfrit "The Rock" Deep Fry Pan with lid

Starfrit "The Rock" 11" 4.1 quart Deep Fry Pan with lid
This was a gift from my wife for my birthday a few years back. I had never seen one like it. It has a tough nonstick surface that is wonderful at resisting foods sticking to or burning on.

Calphalon® Contemporary 11-Inch Square Grill Pan
Calphalon® Contemporary 11-Inch Square Grill Pan
This too was a gift from my daughter who likes to cook and listened to me when I said I wanted a cast iron grill pan. I then  decided, after trying the one she gave me, that I didn't care for cast iron's many care considerations. (I now LOVE cast iron, and it is easy to care for.) I exchanged it for a cast aluminum pan which I have loved and use often. I do wish I had the cast iron one now too. One can never have enough pans!

Blade Guards

These were a gift to my wife (a.k.a. "Turkey") a couple of Christmases ago. I don't get to use them often, but she uses them every day. I bought them from a local cooking supply store called "Spoons & Spice", a fun place to shop if you like to cook. They were having a sale and my wife loves brightly colored kitchen utensils. I matched these with a nine piece assortment of bright silicon & metal utensils.

T-Fal Ceramic Coated Cookware Set
T-Fal Ceramic Coated Cookware Set
This was an unbelievable value for Black Friday one year at Wal-Mart, but I was working, and when I went to find one after I got off, they were all gone! As I walked to the rear of the store, I found a set that was misplaced , so I snatched it up. I use these almost everyday. They are perfect if you don't need something with a heavy bottom. I don't use the plastic tools that came with the set, but it included a quarter-sheet baking pan that is great!

Lodge 6 qt. Enamel Covered Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Lodge 6 qt. Enamel Covered Cast Iron Dutch Oven
This I bought because I was actually looking for another brand, but for very little more, I could buy a brand known for their quality cast iron. I don't use it a lot but when I do, I am always pleased with it's performance. It looks almost as good as it did when I bought it and it may outlast me!

Un-Marked 10½" Cast Iron Skillet (Wagner #8)

10" Cast Iron Skillet (Wagner #8)
We are not certain where this came from, but our best guess is my dear mother. She loved shopping thrift stores. They all knew her by name and she knew which day to check for the new arrivals. We aren't even certain WHEN it came into our possession, but a few years ago as we were preparing to go camping with the grandboys, it was re-discovered and re-uncovered in our basement. I cleaned it up and read up on seasoning and using cast iron and have been using it ever since!

8" Anodized Aluminum Skillet (Meyer?)

8" Anodized Aluminum Skillet
I found this a few years ago on clearance and bought the last 2. It is the perfect size for frying up eggs or small items. The anodized coating is naturally non-stick and the cushioned handle is heat resistant up to 350℉. The only drawback is no lid, but I have lids from other pans that work. I gave the second one I bought to my grandson who at the time was learning to cook.
